DERMAPLANE

Smoother skin, instant glow, makeup-ready

£30 30 minutes Skin Rehab, Pontardawe

A gentle, non-invasive exfoliation treatment by an Independent Nurse Prescriber — for instantly smoother, brighter skin in our Pontardawe clinic.

What dermaplaning can help

  • Dull, tired-looking skin
  • Fine vellus hair (peach fuzz)
  • Rough or uneven texture
  • Flat, lacklustre makeup application
  • Poor skincare product absorption
  • Pre-event or pre-peel skin prep

Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and the fine vellus hair that softens the way light reflects on your face. The result is instantly smoother, more radiant skin — and a flawless canvas for makeup or skincare absorption.

Many clients pair dermaplaning with a PCA Skin® chemical peel for deeper renewal, or use it ahead of microneedling sessions to maximise product penetration. Your nurse will recommend the right combination at your consultation.

Frequently asked questions

Does dermaplaning hurt?

No. Dermaplaning is completely painless — most clients describe it as a light scratching sensation, comparable to a soft eraser being drawn across the skin. There's no anaesthetic required and no recovery time.

Will the hair grow back thicker or darker?

No — this is a common myth. Dermaplaning only removes the soft vellus hair on the skin's surface. Because vellus hair has a tapered, fine end, it regrows in exactly the same texture and colour as before.

How long do the results last?

The instant smoothing and brightening effect typically lasts 3–4 weeks. For continuous smoothness and glow, most clients book a dermaplane every 4 weeks — often timed before a special event or alongside their wider skincare routine.

Can I combine it with other treatments?

Yes — dermaplaning is one of the best treatments to pair with others. It's an ideal prep step before a chemical peel (the peel penetrates more evenly) or before microneedling and skincare serums (better absorption). Your nurse will plan the order at your consultation.

Who should avoid dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning isn't suitable if you have active acne, cold sores, eczema flare-ups, raised moles in the treatment area, or are taking Roaccutane. We'll check your suitability before your treatment and recommend an alternative if needed.

How should I prepare?

Avoid retinols and exfoliating acids for 3 days before treatment, and avoid sun exposure or sunbeds for at least a week beforehand. Come without makeup if possible. Mineral SPF afterwards is essential.

Treatments at Skin Rehab are provided by an Independent Nurse Prescriber registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). A suitability check is carried out before treatment. Services are for adults aged 18 and over. Individual results may vary.
